Pau Piera

Short profile

During my Bachelor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, I developed a strongly scientific approach applied to biological sicences. However, the inherent interest in natural sciences, specially mathematics, drived me to the Bioinformatics field. The MSc. Bioinformatics at KU, provided the oportunity to develop towards a more computational&mathematical perspective, which complemented my former background in a highly prominent field. The evaluation of machine learning methods into metagneomics binning, a significant challange within the field, represents the main focus of my Master Thesis in Rassmusen Lab. Namely, we are evaluating the impact of encoding the contig space into a denoised latent space using adversarial autoencoders.
